Terry Russell is a 28 year veteran of the homebuilding industry and has played a significant leadership role in the Southeast real estate industry for over two decades. Prior to forming FrontDoor Communities with Mike Langella, Terry served as President of Reynolds Development and Management Group and has extensive experience in leading all disciplines of a real estate company. Terry spent 22 years with John Wieland Homes & Neighborhoods (JWH&N); the last 5 years as its CEO. As CEO, he led the company to five straight years of record revenues and profits. Under his leadership, JWH&N won hundreds of national and local awards, including being named “America’s Best Builder” in 2005.
Terry is a member of Urban Land Institute (ULI) and has served as the Chair of ULI Atlanta. He is currently Chair of the Community Development Council of ULI National.
Mike Langella is a 21 year veteran of the homebuilding and community development industry with extensive experience in the Southeast, US. Prior to partnering with Terry Russell to establish FrontDoor Communities, Mike was with John Wieland Homes & Neighborhoods (JWH&N) for 11 years where he held a variety of senior leadership positions including Senior Vice President Strategy & Development and President of the Charleston, SC homebuilding division. Mike was responsible for all of JWH&N’s activities in the areas of land acquisition, land planning, land development, architecture, landscape architecture, market research, neighborhood strategy and neighborhood association management. As President of the Charleston, SC homebuilding division, Mike oversaw the development/homebuilding process for hundreds of homes at a time. Prior to his time at JWH&N, Mike worked for WCI Communities, developing and operating communities in Southwest Florida and California.
Mike received a BS in Business Administration from University of Connecticut and an MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business.
Richard Whiteley is responsible for company capital strategy, evaluation of new opportunities and portfolio management which includes the creation and implementation of the strategies, policies and procedures that maximize return on investment. Prior to joining FrontDoor Communities, Richard worked for the Reynolds Companies where he played a leading role in the sourcing, structuring and underwriting of an $800M real estate portfolio. Before joining the Reynolds Companies, he worked as a management consultant at Bain & Company on a range of strategy development and organization and process design engagements. In addition to evaluation of market opportunities and quantification of strategic growth options, he evaluated and redesigned the mergers and acquisitions process for a $7 billion financial services client.
Richard holds a BS in Economics with Honors from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of Atlanta Regional Airport Falcon Field and as a board member of the Fayette County Development Authority.
Mark Lipsmeyer is responsible for managing FrontDoor’s real estate acquisitions, development, homebuilding, sales, asset management, hospitality and golf operations throughout South Carolina. Prior to joining FrontDoor Communities, he was Vice President for Reynolds Development and Management Group (RDMG) responsible for managing a number of real estate projects throughout South Carolina for a large private equity firm. Prior to RDMG, Mark was Chief Operating Officer of I’On Group, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of I’On Group, I’On Realty and I’On Build. He began his building career in New Orleans, LA owning and operating a building business specializing in the renovation of historic structures in the French Quarter as well as residential and commercial renovations. Subsequent to owning his company, Mark spent 19 years with John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, five of which as Vice President of Construction in South Carolina, responsible for the construction of more than five hundred residences, earning John Wieland the Trident Homebuilder’s Builder of the Year Award and multiple other homebuilding awards.
He is CABO certified, holds a South Carolina Residential Builder’s License, was a board member of Charleston Trident Homebuilding Association, member of The Town of Mount Pleasant’s Workforce Housing Committee, member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia and volunteers his time in many areas including Habitat for Humanity.
Michael Taylor is responsible for managing FrontDoor Communities’ real estate acquisitions, development, homebuilding operations and sales throughout Florida. He is a 27 year veteran in the construction industry with extensive experience in launching and managing high profile projects for a variety of regional, national and international real estate companies.
Taylor began his career as a builder with local homebuilder in Atlanta, Georgia continuing the family legacy as a third generation builder. His early success led Taylor to working with one of the nation’s leading private homebuilders, John Wieland Homes & Neighborhoods. He continued his career with Hines developing a 1,500 mixed used master planned community in St. Augustine, Florida. Later, as Vice President for McCar Homes he was responsible for the growth of the Atlanta and Florida Divisions. Taylor then expanded into the multi-family sector as a Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for LandSouth Construction overseeing the completion of 1,500 Class A apartments. Prior to joining FrontDoor Communities, Taylor was Vice President for DockStreet Communities managing the Florida operations and sourcing new business opportunities for active adult communities throughout the state.
Taylor serves as an active member of the Northeast Florida Builders Association, Urban Land Institute, and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He has served as the past Chair of the Northeast Florida Sales & Marketing Council in 2005 earning the Best in the Nation award at the National Homebuilders Convention.
Mike graduated from the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University with a BS in Marketing. He is also a Certified General Contractor in Florida & Georgia and a licensed Realtor in Georgia.
Eric White is responsible for managing FrontDoor Communities' real estate acquisitions, development, homebuilding and sales in Atlanta. Prior to joining FrontDoor Communities, Eric spent 19 years with Ryland Homes in Atlanta, most recently as Vice President of Land Acquisitions and Development.
During his time with Ryland, Eric worked in a variety of building disciplines and helped lead them to being consistently ranked one of the Top 10 largest builders in Atlanta. He also assisted the Atlanta Home Builders Association and the Council for Quality Growth network with government municipalities to streamline building procedures.
Eric earned a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering degree from Auburn University. Following his undergraduate studies, Eric spent five years as a submarine officer in the United States Navy’s nuclear power program, and he is a veteran of the Gulf War.
