On June 7, Terry Russell, CEO and founder of FrontDoor Communities, a residential development and homebuilding operation in Atlanta, GA joined other notable experts on a panel discussion about the current state of the homebuilding market. The discussion took place at the 47th Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference in Atlanta, hosted by the National Association of Real Estate Editors (ANREE).
Russell joined Fred Ehle of Pulte Group and Eugene James of Metrostudy on a panel titled “Builders and Back: Homebuilding Rebound”, which focused on the resurging housing market in Atlanta and around the country. Nancy Sarnoff, real estate reporter for the Houston Chronicle moderated the panel.

“We’re in the beginning stages of the upswing of the latest homebuilding cycle,” Russell said. “2013 will be better than 2012 and 2014 will be better than 2013.”

The panel also discussed housing trends the panelists are seeing in this new emerging market. “We’re seeing every larger open common areas,” commented Russell. “Inside, minimalism is king, but exteriors are remaining relatively traditional.”

James added that he’s “surprised to see multiple offers on the ‘C’ locations, not just ‘A’ and ‘B’.”
