FrontDoor Communities Executive Named Atlanta Business Chronicle’s CFO of the Year
FrontDoor Communities CFO Richard Whiteley was named the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s CFO of the Year for medium-sized private business. Overseeing a company that has nearly doubled in growth each year from a tiny home builder to a regional powerhouse with $112 million in revenue, Whiteley possesses a keen financial acumen and leadership that has helped fuel this growth.

Within FrontDoor Communities, Whiteley is responsible for company capital strategy, evaluation of new opportunities and portfolio management, which includes the creation and implementation of the strategies, policies and procedures that maximize return on investment. Under his leadership, FrontDoor has secured more than $100 million in capital commitments, closed dozens of real estate transactions, been recognized two years running in the ABC’s Best of Real Estate Awards and built and closed hundreds of homes throughout the Southeast. FrontDoor’s revenues have grown from $46 million in 2014 to more than $100 million in 2016, company members have tripled and the investment pipeline is filled with exciting new opportunities!
Prior to becoming FrontDoor’s CFO, Whiteley worked for Bain & Company and then the Reynolds Companies, where he played a leading role in the sourcing, structuring and underwriting of an $800 million real estate portfolio.
Whiteley holds a BS in Economics with honors from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from Harvard’s business school. While in the Navy, he served as an F/A-18 Super Hornet pilot operating from the aircraft carriers Independence, Kitty Hawk and Abraham Lincoln, and received a multitude of awards for his service in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Whiteley resides with his wife and two children in Peachtree City, where he enjoys being active in his son’s Boy Scout Troup. He is also an IRONMAN finisher and an FAA-licensed commercial pilot. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Atlanta Regional Airport Falcon Field board, and as a board member for the Fayette County Development Authority. In addition, he sits on Congressman Westmoreland’s Naval Academy nomination board and is an active Harvard College alumni interviewer.
