Give Back This Holiday Season by Adopting an Angel at Edgewater
As Thanksgiving and the first bout of holiday shopping fever come to a close, the team at FrontDoor Communities is remembering to be thankful for their jobs, families, safe places to live and the means to give gifts during the holiday season. However, thousands of Atlanta-area children will go without gifts this year because their parents cannot afford them.
Out of gratitude for its many blessings and a desire to help people who are less fortunate, FrontDoor Communities is hosting a Salvation Army Angel Tree at its Edgewater community in Cherokee County. The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program gives gifts of new clothing and toys to children who would otherwise not receive any gifts for Christmas.
Recipients of Angel Tree gifts are from families who have applied for assistance through the Salvation Army’s Social Services program. The children’s needs are taken into consideration during the application process and are transferred to paper angels that are hung on Angel Trees, such as the one stationed at Edgewater. The paper angels contain a code number matching with the child’s family, the child’s first name, age, clothing sizes, requested items and the child’s gender.
The paper angels on the tree at Edgewater are then selected by shoppers who purchase any or all of the items listed on the paper angel and return the gifts to the Angel Tree. At Edgewater, shoppers can adopt an angel and purchase gifts to return to the tree by Saturday, December 9 for the donations to be distributed to the families for the holidays.
Through the support of friends and neighbors like you, FrontDoor Communities can help give the gift of Christmas spirit to those in need.
